Jennifer Garner was born on the 17th of April, 1972 in Houston, Texas but was raised to be raised in Charleston, West Virginia. William John Garner was her father, and was a chemical engineer at Union Carbide. Patricia Ann Garner taught in the same college as her. To follow in the footsteps of her father she earned a degree in chemical engineering. Because she wished to become an actor, she moved to New York. She worked at a restaurant as well as appearing in Broadway shows. Garner was an appearance in the TV show "Felicity." This was in this show that she first got to know Scott Foley, her first husband. Garner was given her first major part in "13 Goin' on 30" which was a romantic comedy well-received. Garner played a teenage woman trapped in her body as an adult. Garner picked Gary Winick (director) to direct the film. The two searched for new projects to do until Winick passed away in 2011. In 2009, Garner was named an ambassador to the arts for Save the Children U.S.A. This role entails national literacy and nutrition, as well as early education, and many other aspects. Garner has been a member of the board of this non-profit organization from 2014. She promotes early learning for children. She has been a spokesperson for the Early Steps to School Success Program. She coaches parents on how to best aid their children's learning.
